Picasso L'Italienne, Rome 1917- Framed Print.
The original painting was produced by Pablo Picasso during his stay in Rome in 1917 and depicts a woman in traditional Italian costume and includes a simplified graphic of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. Picasso was a pioneer in the Cubist art movement, a revolutionary style that rejected the traditional use of perspective and realism. The flattened features, bold outlines and vivid colours of this painting were typical of the Cubist aesthetic.
